Tell me about your family and where you are based
We are based in the Waikato after moving back from Perth, Australia 2 years ago.
What is a typical day like in your house?
Busy! The boys always love to do things & keep me on my toes. When it's sunny we love to spend as much time as we can outside, swimming, messy play trips to the beach or riding bikes.
What's your best childhood memory?
Core memories for me are family trips to the beach and holidays, I love getting to get to do this now with my boys fill up their memory bank.
What was the first year of motherhood like for you?
We lived in Perth at the time and so we had no family on hand to help. So diving into my first year of motherhood was hard but rewarding all at once. Having this little baby that wildly loved & needed you was an incredible responsibility and the greatest role I’ve stepped into. Ohh & nothing prepares you for just how tired you feel sooo tired even now still haha.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given to arm you as you navigate motherhood or that you can pass on?
Never be too hard on yourself! As a new mama or mum in general, it;s ok to cry, ask for help and be exhausted.
What’s one thing as a mum you cannot live without?
That’s a tough one, I have to think about that. :) terrible with things off the top of my head but a good hand bag with room for lots of snacks & drink bottles haha
What was the hardest thing about becoming a mum?
Learning to remember to look after yourself as well. It’s so easy to put everyone else’s needs above yours but I’m slowly starting to do little things for me too.
How do you take time out for yourself without children?
Usually that’s at night time where I might get stuck watching a Netflix series or reading a book with some chocolates.
If you are a working mum how do you ensure you balance this?
This one was hard I had major mum guilt going back to work and the whole these first 5 years go fast always run through my head.
So I’m very lucky we have made it work for me to just be part time so I still have a work / home life balance.
What is it you wanted to portray in your Instagram feed? Or wanted to share with others?
I love just posting pictures in general of my boys or lovely products. I love styling rooms and creating little play spaces. So ultimately if I can inspire just one person with what I post then that makes me super happy.
What do you love about the FB products?
I love that it is a small nz business run but a fabulous kiwi mama. We are big fans of all things wooden which FB have a great range of. The quality of products are top notch & the designs Sara does is truly beautiful.
