Tell me about your family and where you are based
I live far south of Auckland in what feels like a tropical rainforest. We live on a large section that backs onto a beautiful native Bush. We’ve just added a new addition to our family, we have Gabriella who’s now 10 weeks old, Jacob, Ben (husband), two rag-doll cats and myself
What is a typical day like in your house?
No day is ever the same. Hubby works a lot. His workload for his job is huge and he works long hours. We own two rental properties plus a commercial property and he is doing up 2/3 at the moment so life is pretty busy while I hold down the fort at home.
What's your best childhood memory?
Being outdoors from when the sun rises and until the sun sets
What was the first year of motherhood like for you?
It was really difficult. Jacob was premature so I didn’t really enjoy the newborn stage as most of it was spent in hospital.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given to arm you as you navigate motherhood or that you can pass on?
It truly takes a village and If you need help don’t be ashamed to ask for it
What’s one thing as a mum you cannot live without?
Grandparents! So grateful to have my parents and husbands parents around to help out. They’re amazing
What was the hardest thing about becoming a mum?
Sleep deprivation and not realising how hard it was to manage the household plus breastfeed. There just wasn’t enough time in the day.
How do you take time out for yourself without children?
I like to soak in a hot bath or the hubby will take the kids out so I can have some peace and quiet
If you are a working mum how do you ensure you balance this?
So glad I am able to stay home
What is it you wanted to portray in your Instagram feed? Or wanted to share with others?
I want to portray an open and honest feed with everything I share.
